Star Wars Memes To Prepare You For The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on Thursday. Although Star Wars Memes can be used to poke fun at recent events of just about any type, for the most part, this meme genre is used mostly between fans of Star Wars, with some overlap from other science fiction genre's. If you are still reading the stuff on this list, we assume that you are someone who watched most of the movies, even the prequels.

While prequel memers are elitist in the sense that they separate those acquainted with the prequel films from those who don't, their popularity seems to stem not from the fact that specific scenes or sentiments are recognizable only to a specific group of people, but from an underlying ideology that is equallypopular and dominant in theoutsideworld, and which attaches value to people according to their gender, color of their skin, sexuality, orpolitics.

Right from the beginning of Star Wars with episode four, people got the sense that these guys were terrible at their job. In a given episode, the KYM staff describe memes and the history behind them. Online, it has gained popularity as a meme among Star Wars fans.

In Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, we learned about the awe-inspiring power of the Jedi, as well as the baffling incompetence of stormtroopers. Context (in this case the overarching themes of the Star Wars prequels) is particularly important to the Star Wars prequels.

What is new however, is how the prequel memes subreddit has steadily adopted certain problematic politics from its source material and how memes are used specifically to convey and enforce these politics. As a special treat, here's an outtake from my PERFECT movie and clearly the best Star Wars episode yet, The Last Jedi.

There would have been no Star Wars, and the Empire would still be ruling everything because Luke would've never left home in the first place. The shrewd Chancellor Palpatine of Naboo reveals himself to be the evil Darth Sidious, the man Meme directly responsible for the re-emergence of the Sith, with a bone-chilling line that lets the Jedi know exactly who's in charge.
